Brooks Koepka fires back at Bryson DeChambeau in body banter

The world No. 1 slapped down fellow American Bryson DeChambeau’s attempts at body banter with a well-aimed blow at a European Tour event in Abu Dhabi this week.

DeChambeau mused to his followers during a Fortnite Twitch stream Wednesday that Koepka’s gym-sculpted physique was less than perfect.
“I don’t know if his genetics even make him look good, to be honest with you,” said DeChambeau, who has embarked on a intensive program to beef up since last season.
Referring to Koepka’s naked spread in ESPN’s Body Issue last year, he added: “In the Body Issue he didn’t have any abs. I got some abs.”

The pair, who both played on the 2018 United States Ryder Cup team, appeared together in a promotional photo shoot ahead of the Abu Dhabi tournament.

They both wore white lab coats, with Koepka holding a dumbbell and DeChambeau sporting safety specs and clutching a chemistry-type beaker in a nod to his “scientist” persona.

However, after the first round Thursday, Koepka fired his barb.

“You were right @b_dechambeau I am 2 short of a 6 pack!” the 29-year-old tweeted with a picture of his four major trophies — two from the US Open and two from the PGA Championship.

For the 26-year-old DeChambeau, who is ranked 16th, his best finish in a major came at the 2016 US Open, when he tied for 15th.
